Escape RoomsThe games

Free to play

A free online escape room, start to finish, in your browser

The first room of each of our four games is free. Not a demo, not a trailer: the whole room, from waking up locked in to walking out of the door, in a phone or computer browser with no download and no account.

What's free, in one line: every game's first room, playable alone from start to finish with no code, account or download; a look inside every game's current room; and the Instagram game, where anyone can comment what to try next.

The free rooms: Room 1 of every game

Pick the world you like the look of:

That's all we'll say about them. Each room is yours to work out. It plays exactly like a paid room: you walk around it in 3D, tap anything to look at it up close, and work its locks by tapping their parts. Every clue you need is in the room.

Nothing is held back in a free room. It is not a cut-down version with a paywall halfway through. If you get stuck, a "Want a hint?" button turns up after ten minutes without progress, the same as in the paid rooms. When the door opens, the free part ends there.

Your progress is kept on the device you play on, so you can leave and come back to it later. It is not tied to an account, because there isn't one.

Escape room, no download

Many free escape games are apps, or downloads for a computer. This one is a web page. Open the link and the room loads in your browser: Safari or Chrome on a phone, any up-to-date browser on a computer. Phones get a lighter version of the room automatically, so it loads faster and runs smoothly on a small screen. There is more on that in our page on playing on your phone.

No download also means nothing to remove afterwards. Close the tab and it's gone, apart from the small cookie that remembers where you got to.

What else is free

Look inside every game

Each of our four games has its own site, and its front page shows the room its Instagram game is in now. You can walk around it and open every object for a close look, free and without signing up.

The Instagram game

Every room also plays out on Instagram, one Reel at a time. You watch the Reel, comment what to try next, and the best idea is tried in the next Reel. It's free, it's played together with everyone else in the comments, and you don't need to own a game to join. Each game has its own account: @daily.escape.neon, @daily.escape.manor, @daily.escape.dream and @daily.escape.cottage.

What isn't free

To be clear about it: rooms 2 to 5 and the hidden rooms are part of the paid games. A whole game is €2.99 ($2.99 in the US), paid once, and it gives you all five rooms from the start, to play at your own pace, plus a hidden room. All four games together are €5.99. There's no subscription and nothing to buy inside the rooms. Prices and the four games are on the home page.

How to start a free room

  1. Tap Play Room 1 free on this page, or on any game's card on the home page.
  2. Wait a moment while the room loads. On a phone that's a few megabytes, so Wi-Fi helps but isn't needed.
  3. Look around. On a phone, the left joystick walks and the right one looks; on a computer, drag to look and use the arrow keys or WASD to walk.
  4. Tap anything to go up close. Find the clues, work the locks, open the door.

Questions

Is the free room really free?

Yes. The first room of every one of our four games is free to play from the first tap to the open door. There is no code, no account, no email and nothing to download, and no hint or lock in it is held back for paying players.

Is it an escape room with no download?

Yes. The room runs in your web browser, on a phone, tablet or computer. Open the link in Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge and it loads like a web page, only with a 3D room in it. Phones get a lighter version of the room automatically, so it loads quickly on mobile data.

Is my progress saved in the free room?

Yes, on the device you play on. The browser keeps a small cookie, so you can close the page and come back later to where you were. Clearing your browser data or playing in a private window starts the room again.

What happens after a free room?

The door opens and the game goes on in the next room, which is part of the paid game. A whole game is €2.99, paid once, and all four games are €5.99. You can also follow the rest for free on Instagram.

Can I try all four games for free?

Yes. Room 1 of each game is free to play on your own: The Midnight Game at Neon Heights, Wrenhallow, The House at the End of the Path and Grandma Fen's Cottage. You can also look inside the room each Instagram game is in now.
